Creating art is a very solitary experience. It is easy to get lost in the process. My reason for starting a painting is to experiment with texture, color or light differences. Waterfalls, lakes, rain, snow, ponds; the infinite variety of forms that water manifests itself inspire and intrigue me. I love to see the shadows of a mountain stretch over a valley or the jagged edge of a rock against water. The tension of these contrasting images give a painting its depth and life.
As an artist, my challenge is to make these contradictions work in harmony so the painting sets a mood and engages the viewer. That is the moment when I no longer am alone but instead share my work with another individual who hopefully senses my creative vision.
